I play in a cover band, not professional (disclaimer). I own the Line 6 Pod XT Live and used that until it overheated at an outdoor event and malfunctioned. With the busy schedule, I had to find an immediate replacement. Since I had been researching the HD line for several weeks but refrained from buying due to the fact that XT Live is very good too, it didn't take much thought to pull the trigger on Pod HD 300. The AMP models are fantastic. The biggest challenge going from a traditional electric setup to modeling technology is training yourself to concentrate on one amp model for long enough to dial it in to your liking rather than flipping between models playing the comparison game. For the price of the HD 300 you receive the sounds of thousands of dollars worth of gear, all neatly packaged in a board that can fit in a backpack. The board is well built and the controls are layed out in an intuitive fashion (much better than the XT Live by the way). Easy to get the sound you... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bang for buck, April 9, 2012

The hardware is very sturdy and the modeling is amazing. It's not perfect but for the price, you just can't get anything as good as this. Editing sounds with the knobs can be a bit frustrating, but once you plug it into your mac/computer and start using Line6's software, you'll get your perfect tones out in no time.

Definitely recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic., July 17, 2012

I use this in both live and recording setups, the presets are great. USB right to your computer to update, record, and you can control the HD 300 from your computer. There are three different main settings, Patch/pre-amp, Looping, and the presets. You can use the patch setting to build your own effects patch relative to the presets you have or from scratch. I would recommend this any guitarist who's looking for a board they can use in a live and studio setting.
